LOCAL FINANCIAL PLANNER NAMED AMONG THE TOP 100 IN THE NATION

LA QUINTA, Calif. – A La Quinta Financial Planner, Glenn D. Woody, did very well in MUTUAL FUNDS magazine's list of America's top 100 financial advisors.

Fifteen California-based planners were named, representing 15% of the overall list.  Woody is the only planner from Riverside County on the list.

Woody is a Certified Financial Planner.  The "CFP" designation is the highest rank in the financial planning field.  Not all those on the list of 100 rate the designation.  To earn it, financial planners must undergo a number of requirements including passing a stiff comprehensive examination.

"Being a Certified Financial Planner requires one to practice to the highest of standards," according to Woody, who has been in financial services since 1971.  "Not only does it require education and experience, it also involves a continuing program of learning and a strict code of ethics which puts the interests of the client ahead of personal gain."

Like other professional advisors, Woody's firm provides financial consulting services and investment management for individuals, trusts, charities, foundations, companies, and qualified retirement plans.  "We nominees were subjected to close professional and personal scrutiny," Woody says.  "We must first be recommended by our peers, and then screened for any legal, fiscal, or regulatory improprieties."

The magazine also asked nominees about their fee structures and stated that it favors fee-only planners which is the direction that the industry is taking.  Woody, explains that planners who charge by fee make their money by billing clients direct rather than from collecting commissions on such things as insurance policies and mutual funds.   "Fee-only planners accept either an agreed-upon fee or a percentage of the assets under management."  Woody says.

MUTUAL FUNDS Magazine, published in New York, offers in-depth information and ratings of mutual funds.  It examines investment issues related to the general interest of readers while providing information for financial choices and opportunities.
